It is powered by two 16 cylinder 65,000 cc diesel engines each rated at 1715 kW (2300 bhp), which in turn power 4 Siemens electric motors, one for each pair of wheels, giving it four wheel drive and 4-wheel steering. When not loaded, only one engine may be used, saving fuel.
